Interview with MISCHA BARTON

I was lucky enough to interview Mischa Barton several days ago and I'm so excited to finally share it with you!

I know you define your style as eclectic. Is this because you have lived in different places, such as London, New York and L.A?
I definitely think fashion is an expression of yourself and your surroundings, so yes the different places I've lived have influenced the way I dress. But I also draw inspiration from the places I have travelled, different movies, TV and books.

How have you kept your style so alive through the years?
I take pride in fashion and I understand that is an art-form. Fashion is constantly evolving and although I don't always have to follow the latest trends I am conscious of them and I take out the aspects I love. I try to look for unique designs that work well for me and are individual to my personality.

You've said you didn't want to see your name in your brand and logo as many other designers do. Does your logo have a representative meaning? Do you want to communicate any specific value?
I wanted the boutique and the first collection to be inspired by the meaningful things in my life. We've created a Biba-esque line that combines classic and cool and hopefully comes up with an eclectic mix that appeals to a wider audience. We have positioned ourselves as an independent boutique that is indicative of my own style with clothing that makes women feel good about themselves. They can leave with an outfit, a bag or an item of makeup that gives them confidence. We value quality and luxurious product that don't necessarily have the price tag to match. We understand our clients cannot always afford a £2000 bag or dress so we offer something more affordable but still unique and beautiful.

Going to the film and Hollywood field, in which film genre do you feel more comfortable with or do you like the most?
I have been exploring the genre of Horror with some of the latest films I have been in,  including 'A resurrection'. I became very invested in the genre and have a much better understanding of it. But although this has been a new adventure it is not the path I will be going down. I like the idea of doing more theatre and will be attached to a new film over at Universal called For Hire, which revolves around an assassin and it is an action/thriller. I will also be shooting a film in Alaska which is a heavy drama. I am exploring all different types of genres.

Marissa Cooper was in your life for 3 years, but the character is still present nowadays. Can we find something of Marissa Cooper in Mischa Barton? When it comes to likes and dislikes, fears or dreams?
I've evolved a lot since playing the role of Marissa. You form and change a lot in your 20's so I can relate to Marissa in some ways but we are quite different people. Marissa was a multitude of characters during the show and she was quite dramatic. The 'everything goes' attitude she had doesn't work so often as you get older and more mature, and you have to make more informed, sensible decisions.

From here I want to thank you Mischa for your time and dedication. Hope you have enjoyed the interview :)
